A journey of learning
Maryport’ Solway Sea Cadets aims to provide young people with a nurturing environment – one in which they can choose what they learn from a wide range of stimulating subjects and, just as importantly, have fun whilst doing so.
Sea Cadets is the UK’s largest maritime youth charity.
Cadets go to sea, learn to sail, canoe, drive powerboats and do adventure training, all on a nautical theme, plus get extra skills to give you a head start in life.
If you are between 10 and 12 years old you can join as a Junior, or 12 to 18 as a Sea Cadet.
As a unit, the cadets meet on an evening twice a week learning skills at the unit and in marina and frequently at the weekends where they can spend more time on the water developing their our boat handling skills. From time to time, the cadets have “stop-downs” at the unit where they will sleep overnight, having fun playing games and watching films together.
